Trail Notes May 29, 2009
Untangling Web 2.0 for Parents TONIGHT! Join us for this free event this evening, Friday, May 29 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Preston Trail's own Doug Darby, Director of New Media at Austin College, will address some of the issues facing the "connected" kids of today, including social networks, Youtube, texting and much more. Doug will spotlight some of the serious problems that exist with the lifestyle technology used by today’s kids at every age, and equip parents with tips and strategies to keep kids safe. It’s going to be a valuable parenting resource - be sure to invite a friend!
3D Parenting: Teens Join us as we wrap up our “3D Parenting” message series this weekend with a bang. Ryan Hairston, Preston Trail’s Director of Student Ministries, will draw from his years of experience to bring an important message on teens. We are welcoming our middle and high school students to worship with us this weekend; all our PTkids ministries will be opened as usual.
Laura Hairston CD Release, May 31: Join us in the PTCC Worship Center next Sunday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. for the release of Laura Hairston's debut CD "Bigger Than Yourself." Check out her Web site, www.laurahairston.com for a sneak peak of the CD! At the release, Laura will perform all the songs from her CD with a full band, and all the proceeds from CD sales that evening go directly to benefit the kids of Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Grab some bringer cards from the Get Connected kiosk this weekend - it’s a great way to invite your friends!
Celebrate New Life in Christ Through Baptism: Our next baptism will be the weekend of June 13 & 14 during each weekend service. Email info@prestontrail.org to learn more or to sign up. A mandatory baptism orientation meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Call For Musicians: If you are an experienced instrumentalist with professional experience, we would love for you to participate in an "all-call" for our worship band on Wednesday, June 3, but an appointment is required. Summer Lunch Program, June 15-19: PTCC’s Local Compassion Team partners for a week each summer with Frisco Family Services to provide lunches for under-resourced kids right here in Frisco. There are two ways you can get involved: first, come to PTCC in the mornings to help pack lunches; second, help deliver the lunches to three locations around Frisco. This is a great way for middle school & high school students to serve, as well as adults! If you’d like to sign up or get more details, email LCT Director Christine Ortega at christine@prestontrail.org.
